The Neoclassical Greek Revival style home was designed by Wyeth for Mrs. Frank Shaughnessy. Polly Jessup, who often collaborated with Wyeth was the interior decorator. For the Shaughnessy residence, Wyeth repurposed the two-story U-shaped plan he used so often and took advantage of the layout of the land and setting, as he often did. The distinctive Neoclassical Greek temple front portico is centered in the middle of the symmetrical south façade, facing away from the oceanfront.
The house was designated as a landmarked in 1993 and won the Preservation Foundation’s Ballinger award in 1999.
