The Florida Governor’s Mansion was inspired by Andrew Jackson’s Greek Revival style home, the Hermitage, in Nashville, Tennessee. A selection committee that included architects John Volk and James Gamble Rogers selected Wyeth, King, & Johnson. Wyeth designed several schemes including different roof and pavilion concepts. The flat roof was selected because it was determined more cost effective. The Florida’s Governor’s Mansion was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
