The original concept for this house was created by a French designer for James and Zuita Akston, prominent figures in the artistic and social community of Palm Beach. The Akston’s presented the preliminary drawings to Volk, who brought the concept to life. He transformed the original rectangular forms into spherical shapes which allowed him to take full advantage of the lakefront property. Some of the luxe materials included Venetian glass mosaics, Grovesnor granite from New York and Italian marble. In 2003 it was demolished despite efforts to designate it as a landmark.
