After seeing the Royal Poinciana Playhouse, inventor and philanthropist Dr. Louis W. Parker commissioned Volk to build a 1,200-seat theater in Fort Lauderdale. Known as the Parker Playhouse, the building’s exterior is a modern classical form, with a curved main façade following the contour of the interior seating. Covered canopies and driveways provide easy access to a central entrance lobby, flanked on either side with gardens, fountains, and statuary.
