The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach welcomes representatives from the World Monuments Fund (WMF), the leading independent organization devoted to safeguarding the world’s most treasured places to enrich people’s lives and build mutual understanding across cultures and communities. Since its founding in 1965, WMF has worked at more than 700 sites in 112 countries, preserving the architectural and cultural landmarks that define human history.

This presentation will highlight the organization’s newest publication—an extraordinary visual celebration of sixty sites that represent the pinnacles of human achievement, from the fabled towers of Babylon and Angkor Wat to the colossal stone heads of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and the secret gardens of Beijing’s Forbidden City.

While these sites are among the world’s most iconic destinations, they face growing threats from climate change, conflict, over-tourism, and economic strain. WMF’s global work calls attention to these challenges while advancing solutions to ensure that these remarkable places will continue to inspire future generations.

Taken together, the monuments safeguarded by WMF form what can be considered the world’s great museum without walls—a shared legacy that connects us to our past, enriches our present, and strengthens our collective future.
