The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach is pleased to welcome Douglas Wright, acclaimed architect, designer of interiors, and author of the new Rizzoli monograph From Hand to Home: The Architecture of Douglas Wright. This richly illustrated volume gathers highlights from Wright’s recent work, both new houses and reimagined historic dwellings, brought to life through his extraordinary watercolors, pencil studies, and exquisitely detailed floor plans.
Wright’s architecture, as shown throughout the book’s twenty featured residences, is shaped by a deep understanding of both historical precedent and contemporary living. Whether crafting a Queen Anne–style home, a seaside Shingle-style cottage, an Arts and Crafts retreat, or a meticulously restored McKim, Mead & White apartment, he infuses each project with a clarity of proportion, a reverence for craftsmanship, and an unmistakable design intelligence. His collaborations with leading interior designers such as Bunny Williams, Cullman & Kravis, Brian J. McCarthy, and Amy Lau underscore his versatility and sensitivity to context.
Recognized as a design leader whose work effortlessly bridges styles and eras, Wright brings to the stage a practice informed by classical influences, modern sensibilities, and a lifetime of study. His firm’s award-winning projects have appeared in Architectural Digest, Veranda, Galerie, Elle Decor, and The Wall Street Journal, and in 2023 were honored with the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art’s McKim, Mead & White Award for residential architecture.
Join us to explore how architectural ideas move from hand to home, from watercolor and sketch to spaces that shape how we live, gather, and imagine the future.
